The Anthropocene is a thesis that posits that the geologic era, the Holocene, has been replaced with an age of irreversible environmental change brought on after the industrial revolution by the human species. Evidence is embedded in the geologic strata, oceans and atmosphere in carbon and other chemical levels and in the mass species extinctions.
