Pagoda for Ueno Wanderers

During the two weeks in residency at Kandada, my daily travels took me from Ueno Station to the Tokyo Geiai Arts University, usually late evenings after a full day in the studio. There were many homeless people living in the park at night in improvised structures made from cardboard boxes.  I decided to create a pagoda, based on Southeast Asian traditional architecture, out of the cardboard waste from the printing company that supports the Kandada space.  The pagoda highlights my memory in Tokyo and can also said to be very site specific.
