A mother and child portrait of my wife, Trang and our son Ry An. Started in March 2020 when he was two weeks old as a pastel on canvas, repainted as an acrylic in May 2020 then put away for nearly a year. I returned to the canvas and repainted in oil in April 2021. The painting has changed and evolved over the past year, as has our son. 

Stylistically, it is a work that shows my love for the Mannerist painters, in color palette, collapsed space and figurative distortion as expressive painting.
