The site specific installation is an experiment about constructing images from everyday material. Looking up through the vegetation in the jungle, one notices a wide chromatic spectrum of greens as the sun shines through the leaves. This inspired me to create a lightbox effect for this work using wakame and nori. Recently, I’ve been using common edible materials in my work. These materials are usually consumed in small human portions but in the installations our perception of those materials when used in larger scales is changed. The image refers to the story of Marguerite Duras’ early life in colonial Vietnam, as depicted in her novel, The Lover.
