This is Not a Fairytale: Contemporary Thai Art Exhibition, curated by Ark Fongsmut, opened at the Soka Art Center in Taipei. Earlier this year, contemporary Thai artists also participated in Eugene Tan's curatorial venture in Southeast Asian art at the Eslite Gallery in Taipei. If my hunches are correct, a shift in interest towards contemporary art production in Southeast Asia will continue to rise over the next year as the world. C-Arts, an arts publication based in Indonesia (and printed in Singapore) apparently is positioning itself as the arts magazine of the region focusing and disseminating news from the area. I wish I could see these latest exhibition at Soka. I guess I'll just have to make my rounds in Bangkok in November when I attend Asiatopia.
Exhibition Opens: August 30, 2008; 19:30 hrs
Dates: August 30 - October 19, 2008
Artists: Navin Rawanchaikul, Montri, Kamol Phaosavasdi, Arin RungJang, Nipan Oranniwesna, Tawatchai Puntusawasdi, Natte Utarit
