Mediating the Mekong (Midterm Report)
mediating_midterm.jpg

My research project, Mediating the Mekong, made possible by the Martell Contemporary Asian Art Research Grant and the Asian Art Archive is now a mid-point. Shortly before the holidays I submitted my briefing to the Asian Art Archive for the January 2006 newsletter. The report with images, covers the cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, Bangkok and Yangon.

You can view the newsletter directly from the Asian Art Archive at:

Good luck on your project! It sounds thoroughly fascinating...

The last time I visited the Mekong was on a trip to Laos. Not sure why, but it just felt so maternal...

Damn. It looks like i did. But let me check my external hard drive at home to make sure we didn't take the same photo. I've got a whole series of photos of that animation/exhibition, as do you. And we were both in the room with our cameras at the same time. In the case it's your photo, I hereby credit the photo to Tuyet Nguyen, photographer extraordinaire. In the AAA report the photos are not credited.
