"The Ministry of Culture and Information (MCI) is devising a scheme to build a website for overseas Vietnamese and issuing print and online newspapers in some countries where have large numbers of overseas Vietnamese. The ministry is also compiling a policy to support publication activities serving overseas Vietnamese and the plan to issue some cultural publications of the overseas Vietnamese community in Vietnam. In addition, the body is working on a project to develop an online library for overseas Vietnamese and plans to encourage Vietnamese art troupes to perform abroad and overseas Vietnamese artists to perform in Vietnam."
The development of an online library and new cultural exchanges is admirable. But I'll wait to see how this develops before I get hopeful. Like so many things, it's not a good idea to automatically trust what your read in the local press or to expect that things reported will happen according the published or regular schedule. For now, I will simply say if this is true, then I am happy that the MCI is expanding their scope. Perhaps the Fine Art Association will follow the lead and begin to do something.
