INTERWEAVING CULTURES
Five Contemporary Artists at the Jim Thompson House

Interweaving Cultures, a project that involves art professionals from Japan, Thailand and Europe, creates a unique opportunity for curators and artists from different parts of the world to actively exchange their views and ideas. The results of this collaboration will be presented in the form of an exhibition at the Art Center at the Jim Thompson House in Bangkok from March 31 to June 30, 2005.

I plan to get advance legwork done in preparation for applying to the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Program. My top choice is a return to Chiang Mai, where in early 2004 I did a one-month residency with the Chiang Mai Artist Residency Program organized by Gridthiya Gaweewong of Project 304 and ArtsNetworkAsia. The Media Arts Design Program at CMU has a new platform, the Center for Media Ethnography and Visualizing Culture Study, which relates directly to the work I've been doing the last several years. I wish I had known about this program before submitting my proposal to the Martell Contemporary Asian Art Research Grant and the Asia Art Archive. Ugh.
